This contemporary basket has been handwoven using white willow and locally-grown willow for vertical stripes. The white willow was grown in Somserset where after harvesting they peeled the bark to show the beautiful white of the willow fibres underneath. It features a variation of French Randing and the distinctive open Irish Pairing weave which was traditionally used on donkey creels/paniers.
