On this one day workshop, you will be guided by Sarah to create a Zarzo fruit tray - a modern interpretation of a traditional Spanish basket, creating a sculptural yet functional piece for everyday life.

The course aims to give a gentle introduction to the wonderful material of willow, whilst allowing you time to enjoy the mediative qualities of the rhythmical weaving patterns involved; a perfect choice for anyone new to willow weaving or for those who are looking to step away from the busy world to experience the calming processes that basketry can offer.

About the venue:

Set within the Wyre Forest, the Discovery Room offers a peaceful setting amongst the trees, whilst offering all the amenities the visitor centre has to offer; with easy access to toilets, an onsite cafe and car park.

ACCESSIBILITY:

Willow weaving is physically active in all areas. It can particularly hard on the hands, so is unsuitable for those who suffer from arthritis or other conditions that affect the hands. Courses will involve working at many levels, including bending down to the floor, working on laps or standing, and working seated at tables. If you have any physical difficulties in any of these areas, we advise you to contact us before booking.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

Please bring a packed lunch. Please wear warm clothes you don't mind getting messy, and bring extra layers (we will be working in a large open space).

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

Materials and use of tools. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day.
