Oval handbag workshop: 2 day course
 
TIMES: 10am - 4.30/pm each day
Please arrive from 9.30 for tea/coffee, to begin at 10am

During this course you will create an oval willow bag with leather handles. Beginning with a willow hoop, you will create the base for your bag using the Catalan method, where the weavers for the base become the uprights for the sides. On day two, you will continue weaving the sides of the basket, before learning how to weave the border and finishing with leather straps to complete your bag.
 
Places are limited to 6 people to give plenty of support to each participant, with Sarah on hand to guide you through each of the processes involved in creating your very own willow bag.
 
EXPERIENCE/SKILL LEVEL - BEGINNERS' / INTERMEDIATE MAKERS 
This course is a mixed-ability class, suitable for beginners and intermediate makers; Sarah will make suggestions of techniques to use depending on your level of experience. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have questions or if you’re wondering whether this course is for you.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
Please bring a packed lunch. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.

Materials and use of tools. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day.

ACCESSIBILITY:
Willow weaving is physically active in all areas. It can particularly hard on the hands, so is unsuitable for those who suffer from arthritis or other conditions that affect the hands. Courses will involve working at many levels, including bending down to the floor, working on laps or standing, and working seated at tables. If you have any physical difficulties in any of these areas, we advise you to contact us before booking.
