On this active two day course you will learn how to make a blanket basket using Somerset willow. A great basket to try your hand at willow weaving. Using tried and tested willow basketry techniques, you will work in a small group of 8, guided by two tutors, Sarah and Marcus. You will begin by completing a base, before moving onto adding uprights, weaving the sides and finally adding void handles; ending with a basket made with your own hands.
This course is designed for beginners.

There is some scope to adapt your baskets shape, size and colour to your own design and needs. There will also be time to discuss how to source willow, how to store it and how to soak it ready for weaving
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
Please bring a packed lunch.
Materials and use of tools included. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day.
EXPERIENCE AND ACCESSIBILITY:
This course is aimed at beginners. Willow weaving is physically active and can be hard on the hands, so is unsuitable for those who suffer from arthritis or other conditions that affect the hands. Courses are designed for adults.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained 8 weeks prior to the course date.
Should there be insufficient numbers for the course to go ahead (less than 4 participants), it will be cancelled 3 weeks in advance, with partcipants notified via email. Should there be insufficient numbers to need two tutors, only one tutor will teach over the weekend course (Sarah). In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a course for any reason, a full refund will be given (for the full price of the course fee only). If you book and pay but do not attend the course, no refund will be given.
